LE PRISONNIER (1967) - la série

Le Prisonnier (The Prisoner) est une série télévisée britannique en 17 épisodes de 48 minutes, créée par George Markstein et Patrick McGoohan, qui en est l'interprète principal. La série suit un ancien agent secret britannique, retenu prisonnier dans un mystérieux village balnéaire, où ses ravisseurs essaient de savoir pourquoi il a brusquement démissionné de son poste.

Présenté initialement comme un thriller, du même moule que la série précédente de Patrick McGoohan, Destination Danger (Danger Man en anglais), Le Prisonnier utilise les ficelles du roman d'espionnage, teintées de science fiction, d'allégorie et du drame psychologique. La combinaison des thèmes de la contre-culture des sixties, et sa mise en scène surréaliste, ont fait du Prisonnier une série profondément influente sur la production des programmes de science fiction, du fantastique, et sur la culture populaire en général.
